Why would I want to become a Virtual Assistant? What could this position offer me?

If you’re asking these questions, you are probably just entering into the VA world. Being a VA has some fantastic perks! Let me just tell you how fantastic they are…

Flexible hours

If you are looking for flexible work hours to fit your schedule, this job is for you! You don’t need to worry about scheduling your life around a typical 9-to-5 job. As a VA, you decide what work hours you’ll keep.

If you are a teacher, you’re given a schedule based on a rotation of classes that needs to fit into each week for each kid. Unless you have a substitute covering for you, you have to be there at the scheduled time. There’s not much flexibility in this structure.

On the flip side, your schedule as a VA is entirely up to you.

You can work around your kids’ sleep schedules – getting up a few hours earlier than they do, working during nap time, or even cranking out some work after you’ve tucked them into bed. You can also work while your kids go to school and be there to greet them when they get home and hear about their day.

Maybe you just want to be able to do things on your own schedule. You can if you’re a VA! You can workout at the gym, spend time with friends on a coffee date, get a manicure, or play with your dog any time you want. Make work fit around your lifestyle. The time is yours to schedule as you please!

Create your own pay scale

At what teaching job can you set your pay rate? Sure, you can negotiate with your potential employer on an amount you feel you’re worth, but let’s be honest, they already have an idea of what they can offer you. And that job most likely has a salary cap. If you want to earn more, you’re going to have to get a better position in the district and hope that a promotion opportunity opens up.

As a VA, you set your rates based on your experience and skills. If you’re starting out as a newbie, start pitching jobs at an entry level rate. But once you get a little experience and hone those skills of yours, raise your rates! Want to earn more money? Learn some more skills and then raise your rates again. Gain some more experience and raise your rates again.

Your pay scale is only limited to your skill set, hard work, and goals.

Choose your projects

Projects in the VA world can vary immensely, and the possibilities are endless. If you like to organize and perform general admin tasks, offer services like managing emails or schedules.

Do you like math? Maybe you’d like to become a bookkeeper. Do you like learning new tech and programs? Become a tech VA and specialize in the ones that pique your interest.

If you have a love for words, dive into content writing, copywriting, sales pages, etc. If you are an artist, become a graphic designer.

What is your passion? Where do your interests lie? Offer those services! Choose anything you want!

Work from anywhere

Do you have deadlines to meet in your VA job, but you’ve got a hankering to smell the ocean? Pack that laptop in your bag with the rest of your essentials, and get your butt to the beach!

Don’t worry about requesting time off in advance or lining up a substitute and conveying lesson plans. Go sit at the beach or in your cabin on the mountain or at a coffee shop in another state and get to work. Pull that laptop out of your bag, finish the projects you need to, and then enjoy your surroundings!

No need to drive the same route to the same school at the same time each day. Work from anywhere you want!

Make your dreams a reality

No matter what your dreams are, you can achieve them with some clear goals and hard work.

If you need a side hustle to bring in a little extra money, become a VA.

If you need a job that isn’t the typical 9-to-5, work-from-a-classroom kind of job, become a VA.

Looking to pay off some debt? Save for a new house? Put some money in a college savings account for your little ones? — Become a VA.

Do you want to buy a vacation home? Take the kids to Disney World? Tour Europe? — Become a VA.

Whatever your dreams are, you can achieve them by becoming a VA!

So roll up your sleeves and get to work! Dive into the VA world and make your life what YOU want it to be. Take advantage of the opportunities and flexibility – in time, in location, in pay!

That life you dream about is waiting for you to make it a reality.
